We offer a variety of courses certified through Sail Canada. Course bundling and private lessons on our boat or your boat can be arranged. We are pleased to offer all courses based on your availability. Contact us to make arrangements.

  

Sail Canada Courses

Pleasure Craft Operator Card    
$60.00 plus HST
4 hours in class
The mandatory requirement for anyone in Canada operating a pleasure craft with any type of motor. A Sail Canada Certified Pleasure Craft Operator Card Instructor has the best training to teach you all you will need to know to pass the Transport Canada test.

Restricted Radio Operator Certificate    
$115.00 inclusive - Students are to purchase materials at sailing.ca
6 hours theory
The Restricted Radio Operator Certificate is required by anyone using a marine VHF radio or other marine radios. Any person on the boat who will use the radio needs their own card. ​Rate includes exam fees and required materials.                      Contact us to make arrangements.

Introduction to Boating/Sailing 
$140.00 inclusive - Students are to purchase materials at sailing.ca
3 hours on water
An introductory level course from Sail Canada intended to provide new or novice boaters the opportunity to explore cruising on keelboats by introducing sage practices used when preparing to leave a dock, while underway and when returning to the dock.

Start Keelboat Sailing Standard 
$395.00 inclusive - Students are to purchase materials at sailing.ca
12 hours on water, 3 hours theory
A more in-depth entry level course in the series of Sail Canada courses on cruising on keelboats with an emphasis on developing the sailor's ability to command and operate, with crew, an auxiliary powered sailing vessel of between 6 and 10 meters in familiar waters in moderate wind and sea conditions by day. Rate includes required materials. Provisioning extra.
Weekend Courses: Requires completion of 2 weekend days - 7.5 hours per day. 
Evening or Weekday Courses: Requires completion of 5 evenings or weekdays - 3 hours per session.

Sail Canada Basic Cruising Standard
$680.00 inclusive - Students are to purchase materials at sailing.ca
18 hours on water, 9 hours theory
A more in-depth entry level course in the series of Sail Canada courses on cruising on keelboats with an emphasis on developing the sailor's ability to command and operate, with crew, an auxiliary powered sailing vessel of between 6 and 10 meters in familiar waters in moderate wind and sea conditions by day. Rate includes required materials. Provisioning extra.                     
Weekend Courses: Requires completion of 4 weekend days - 8 hours per day. 
Weekday Courses: Requires completion of 4 weekdays - 8 hours per day.

Deposit, Cancellation and Refund Policy on All Courses:
All prices are in Canadian dollars. HST included. Provisioning for live aboard not included. 
Students are to purchase their course materials through ASA.com directly and prior to the course dates. 
Payment is accepted by e-transfer and PayPal.
Credit Card is accepted, however a 3% surcharge will be added. 
A 15% deposit is required to hold your course. Full payment is due 30 days or more before your scheduled course.
Refunds minus a 15% administrative fee are available as follows:
100% - 30 days or more before the scheduled course
50%   - 14 days or more before the scheduled course
25%   - 7 days or more before the scheduled course
Under 7 days - no refunds
